Ernie was a little boy who was loved by his human and canine family members. He died horribly when an unsupervised and uncertified veterinary assistant punctured his lung with a feeding tube at an emergency and specialty animal hospital; his veterinarian had left the room and did not return until Ernie was in cardiac arrest (20-79).
His family subsequently started Ernie Matters to tell people about what happened and change the laws relating to uncertified veterinary assistants.
Ernie was not only a Yorkie but a little boy in a wonderful, loving home he shared with human family members Gary, Lisa, Shane, and Brookelynn. He was also dearly loved by his canine little sister LuLu, who wasn't just a sister but also his stroller buddy. In the words of one of his surviving humans, Lisa, "She was as devastated by his loss as much as we were."
